How long can I stay off-grid with a standard solar package?
Most of our 2026 Grand Design and Forest River models with a 200W solar panel can keep your lights, water pump, and 12V fridge running indefinitely in sunny conditions. If you plan to use a CPAP machine, a coffee maker, or a laptop for remote work, we suggest adding a second battery or a portable solar suitcase, both of which are available in our Carleton Place parts shop.
Do I need a generator if I have solar?
While solar is great for silent power, we recommend a small dual-fuel inverter generator as a backup for cloudy Ontario weeks or if you need to run your A/C. We stock Champion and Yamaha generators that fit perfectly in the "front-cap" storage of most of our off-grid units.
